These terms outline your rights and responsibilities when using Kiku, operated by Edward Coventry.
1. Acceptance of Terms
Accessing and using Kiku signifies your agreement to these Terms of Use, which apply to all users.
2. Service Description
Kiku supports Japanese learning with vocabulary, phrases, review activities and learning media, including anime, poetry and podcasts. Users can save targets and track their learning progress. Learning content and AI-assisted feedback may contain errors.
3. Content Ownership
Third-party content, including anime, recordings, poetry and dictionary material, remains the property of its respective owners. Educational use does not automatically permit use or redistribution of copyrighted work. Access to Kiku does not transfer those rights to you.
4. User License
Kiku grants users a non-exclusive, revocable license to use the app and its content for personal, non-commercial educational purposes. This license does not confer ownership of any content to users. Kiku retains all rights to its content and services.
5. User Data and Privacy
Please see our Privacy Policy. Your data in the app provides export, progress clearing and account deletion. You can also request deletion here. Beta and normal Kiku share accounts and learning data; deletion from either affects both. Kiku Dev has separate accounts and data.
6. Age Restrictions
Kiku is intended for users aged 13 and older. Store age ratings may vary with the available content.
7. Subscription Services and Free Tier
Where offered, optional subscriptions provide the benefits shown on the purchase screen. The free tier may include adverts. Your platform store shows the localized price, billing period and any offer terms before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled through Apple or Google Play before the store's renewal deadline. Store terms govern payments and refund requests.
Use Restore purchases while signed into the appropriate store and Kiku accounts. Deleting the app or your Kiku account does not cancel billing. Manage subscriptions through Apple or Google Play. You can delete your account without waiting for a subscription to expire. Sharing an account between Beta and normal Kiku does not automatically transfer store purchases between those app records.
8. Use Restrictions
Misuse of Kiku’s services—including server abuse, data scraping, or unauthorized content replication—is strictly prohibited and may lead to termination of access.
9. Amendments to Terms
We may update these terms as the service changes and will communicate material changes as appropriate. Nothing in these terms removes your mandatory consumer rights.
10. Termination of Service
Kiku may terminate or restrict your access for violations of these Terms, especially for content misuse or service abuse, to protect our community and services.
11. Dispute Resolution
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a problem. This does not prevent you from using the courts or other remedies available under applicable law.
